Reduced Maintenance Costs

Benefits of an Odyne Plug-In Hybrid System

 • Less Brake Maintenance Required
 • Fewer Oil Changes
 • Less Engine Maintenance
 • Reduced Idle Time Results in Less Maintenance of the Diesel Engine Particulate Filter (DPF)

The Challenge

How will the plug-in hybrid system affect vehicle maintenance costs?

When the brakes are applied in a conventional vehicle, the kinetic energy of the vehicle is converted to thermal energy (heat) as the temperature of the brake pads increases. This wasted energy raises the operating temperature of the brakes, accelerating their wear and increasing the associated maintenance costs.

The Odyne Solution

Allowing the hybrid system to operate the truck functions at the jobsite in all-electric mode reduces the amount of engine hours, leading to reduced engine maintenance throughout the life of the vehicle.

PHEVs have lower operating costs, and require less maintenance than a conventional vehicle, due to regenerative braking and reduced engine hours.

In a PHEV, some of the kinetic energy of the vehicle is converted into electricity and stored in the battery.

Our Plug-In Hybrid vehicles are capable of zero-emission, all electric jobsite operation! Check out our applications page for more info on which hybrid is right for you.

Our Plug-In Hybrid system has launch assist & regenerative braking. The electric motor generator slows the vehicle & uses "captured" energy to recharge the battery system.
