Odyne’s Advanced Hybrid Propulsion System Featured On a Ford Chassis Reduces Fuel Consumption By Up To 50%

Waukesha, WI – October 4, 2011—Waukesha based Odyne Systems, LLC, a leading manufacturer of hybrid systems for medium and heavy duty work trucks, is showcasing its new advanced hybrid propulsion system in booth 512 at the HTUF show October 10 – 13 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The plug-in hybrid system, to be shown on a Ford chassis, is designed to interface with a wide variety of truck mounted equipment, saving fuel, reducing emissions and providing quieter operation at the work site. Odyne’s plug-in hybrid truck system, increases fuel efficiency and power while driving by using a rugged Remy electric motor in parallel with the existing drive train to provide launch assist and regenerative braking. At the jobsite, the Odyne hybrid plug-in battery system featuring Johnson Controls’ lithium-ion battery packs powers worksite applications.

“The Odyne Hybrid Power system delivers improved performance for medium and large work vehicles,” said Joe Dalum, President and Chief Executive Officer of Odyne Systems. “Odyne’s unique system helps reduce operating costs through higher efficiency, and depending on duty cycle, enables large trucks to obtain fuel economy improvements of up to 50%, compared to traditional diesel or gasoline engines.“

Dalum and Odyne Marketing Director, Matt Jarmuz, will be speaking at the conference on the hybrid retrofit and OEM update panels respectively on Wednesday October 12th.

Odyne has produced more plug-in hybrid systems for heavy duty trucks than any other manufacturer. Systems are eligible for $100k grants per truck through the Department of Energy Clean Cities program.
